CrewFinder, the Sailing Professionals Network, is a global recruitment platform developed by Throneware. It is a tool used to find and hire professionals from the marine industry by boat and yacht owners around the world. The application began as a server, iOS and web project, but then expanded and was also developed for Android.
Before work on any of the applications could be started, the back end had to be set up and developed. The back end we developed contained many features and technologies, including:
Throneware worked on a complicated project for us at Silverfin. The timescales were tight and the project harder than we first thought. The work was delivered to a very high standard, under budget and we are very happy with the results.
Both of the mobile apps were developed natively. To deliver the best possible experience for users we recommended building native applications for each of the required platforms. This led to the applications having a very slick and responsive interface that users rated very highly.
The mobile applications had feature parity with the website and in some cases, such as geolocation, the functionality was extended even further. Some of the mobile features included:
The application was also integrated with the main social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. This increased engagement rates and traffic by allowing users to post and share jobs and profiles on various social networks.
The full stack development demonstrated during the CrewFinder project is a great example of how Throneware can work with an organisation to deliver an entire platform. The CrewFinder solution delivered to Silverfin was not only cost effective, but also of the highest quality and delivered on time. We even carried out the graphic and interface design for the platform and are incredibly proud of the final result. The application also had the capability to scale massively. Every aspect of CrewFinder, from data storage, the server code to and hosting, was designed with scalability in mind.
